The Global Business Complexity Index 2023 (GBCI) provides an authoritative overview of the complexity of establishing and operating businesses around the world. It explores factors driving the success or failure of international business, with a focus on operating in foreign markets, and outlines key themes emerging globally as well as local intricacies across 78 jurisdictions.
The GBCI 2023 is based on 292 indicators relating to business complexity and provides in-depth analysis of global and local challenges impacting on the ease of doing business around the world. These data points are used to compile a global ranking of the 78 jurisdictions, based on the complexity of their business environments and covering legislation, compliance, accounting procedures, tax regimes, human resources (HR) rules and payroll processes.

Speakers:

Federico Liutvinas – South Latam Market Director
Broad experience earned in national and multinational companies. Before joining TMF in 2018, Federico worked in Thomson Reuters as Managing Director for Chile, Paraguay, Peru & Uruguay. Previously, he worked more than 15 years in EY rendering audit and consultancy services to multinational public and private owned companies.

Claudio Cirocco – Argentina Managing Director
He has more than 25 years of experience in different industries, including automotive, financial services and technology. He has vast experience in administration, accounting, finance, tax and payroll liquidation, having led several teams and helped international companies to expand their operations around different countries.

Rosario Arriagada – South Latam GEM Director
Ms. Arriagada is an attorney with experience in corporate law, tax law and financing of energy and infrastructure projects. Prior to joining TMF in 2020, she was part of the law firm Morales & Besa for almost 5 years and then developed her practice as a legislative advisor in the Chilean government for almost 4 years. She has participated in relevant corporate structures, incorporating companies in Chile in the framework of mergers and acquisitions transactions, as well as participating in project finance transactions of energy projects, having experience in the main contracts involved in them, such as credit facilities, intercreditor agreements, collateral agency agreements, among others.

Jorge Sodano - South Latam Capital Markets Lead
+ 15 years’ leadership and management experience in the Capital Markets practice in LATAM. Jorge structured and led relevant transactions in the region. Comprehensive knowledge of regulations related to Tax, foreign exchange restrictions, and legal regulations in the region. Jorge holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in Finance. Before joining TMF, Jorge worked in Equity Trust, ABN AMRO Bank N.V. Argentina Branch, and PWC.

Francisca Perez - Market Head of Delivery South Latam
Mrs. Pérez is an attorney with broad experience in matters of domestic and international taxation, including M&A transactions, cross-border operations, project finance of energy, infrastructure, and real estate projects. Before joining TMF Chile, she formed part of the International Tax department of Deloitte for 13 years and then led the tax practice of the law firm Morales & Besa for 12 years. Mrs. Pérez has been a tax advisor to sponsors, investors, and international and local lenders involved in the most relevant energy and real estate projects of the last 10 years in Chile. Mrs. Pérez has also served as an expert witness in Chilean tax law before New York Courts.
