Laura da Ascenção

Laura da Ascenção

Laura da Ascenção is a Commercial Director at TMF Group and an independent director for Cayman fund entities.

Prior to joining TMF Group, Laura worked at Intertrust Group for over 15 years and assumed various roles, including Vice President in Cayman, Company Lawyer in Amsterdam and Trust Officer in Curação. She acted as an independent director on boards and as a Money Laundering Reporting Officer on fund and capital markets client entities. In addition, she was responsible for the implementation of various regulatory services pertaining to funds and corporate clients, as well as managing a client portfolio.

She has extensive knowledge on Cayman regulatory matters, corporate (re)structuring and international corporate governance. Laura holds a bachelor degree from the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences, is an accredited director, a member of the Cayman Islands Directors Association, a certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (ACAMS) and a member of the Chartered Governance Institute in Canada.

Nabin Banskota

Nabin Banskota joined TMF Group in 2020 as a Commercial Director to grow TMF Group’s fund services business in the North America. Nabin previously was a Director of Sales and Business Development at Apex Group, covering private equity, real estate and hedge fund managers. Prior to that, Nabin was SVP at Citi Private Bank where he oversaw a large finance, tax, compliance and operations team for a US$30 billion SEC registered alternative investment platform for more than seven years. He was responsible for financial, tax, compliance and regulatory reporting for the broker dealer, as well as various types of private funds in the US, Cayman and Luxembourg. He was also responsible for overseeing fund administrators, audit and tax service providers, custodians and banks, Directors and GPs, AIFMs and other service providers of various private funds. Nabin has held a variety of roles in the alternative investment space with JP Morgan, State Street and KPMG during his career.

Renee Haggerty

Renee Haggerty joined TMF Group in 2020 as the Global Entity Management North America Practice Lead, with oversight of the teams in Canada, the US and Mexico. Renee previously opened and ran the US Corporate Services where she developed the business and operations for Intertrust for ten years. Prior to this, Renee was a Senior Product Analyst for the legal teams of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) and Goldman Sachs Hedge Fund Strategies LLC, where she was responsible for corporate governance and regulatory deliverables for funds domiciled in the US, Cayman, Ireland and the UK.
