Green securitisation is the process of taking an illiquid green asset, or series of assets, and transferring it into a security. While a fast-growing market, it remains a relatively new phenomenon with a limited and untested track record.
Both issuers and investors need to be meticulous in how they set up the securitisation, ensuring it benefits them, but also protects investors.
Additionally, they need to carefully choose which securitisations they should invest in. Projects should be sufficiently green, with a risk profile investors feel comfortable with.
