James Coughlan

James is responsible for TMF Group’s North America, Caribbean and BIIL (British Isles, Ireland and Luxembourg) markets. He oversees strategic alignment, P&L performance, commercial growth, regulatory and compliance governance, and service delivery across the markets. He also serves as Chair and board member of several regulated entities in Jersey, Guernsey and Ireland.

James joined TMF Group in 2019 after the acquisition of State Street Channel Islands, where he had worked since 2013. He initially served as Global Operations Director, working with teams across key jurisdictions to strengthen and expand TMF Group’s global funds services.

During his time at TMF Group, James has held several leadership positions, including Head of Funds, Channel Islands, and Head of BIIL market. He has extensive experience leading large accounting teams, managing strategic client relationships, and driving operational excellence across the funds industry.

James is an FCCA-qualified accountant and began his career in audit and corporate finance in Ireland before moving into the financial services sector.
