TMF Group-sponsored Island Walk raises record £160,000 for Jersey charities
The Island Walk, an annual charity walk around the coastline of Jersey sponsored by TMF Group, has raised GBP£ 160,000 for local causes, bringing the event's total fundraising contribution to an estimated £3.16 million since its inception.
This year's walk, which marked its 35th year, attracted 1,787 entrants, including 1,049 returning walkers and 406 first-time participants. Walkers travelled from around the world to take part, with entrants coming from Jersey (1,440), the UK (304), Guernsey (14), France (8), Ireland (7), Germany (5), South Africa (4), India (2), and Portugal, Slovakia and the Cayman Islands.
The success of the event relied on the efforts of approximately 400 volunteers, organisers and supporters involved in the lead-up to the day and during the event itself.
Funds raised through the 35th Island Walk will support a range of local charities and good causes, including:
- Jersey Heart Support Group
- Dementia Jersey
- The Grace Crocker Family Support Foundation
- Music in Action
- Acorn
- Brightly
- Jersey Child Care Trust
- Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey
- Wetwheels
- Jersey Scouts
- Jersey Cheshire Home
Since the first Island Walk, approximately 34,800 walkers have participated in the event, helping to raise around £3.16 million for Jersey charities and community organisations.
Reaching our 35th year is a remarkable milestone and a testament to the generosity and commitment of the Jersey community. Every walker, volunteer, sponsor and supporter has played a part in helping local charities continue their vital work.
